IMF satisfied with Indonesian macro-economy

Slowly but surely Indonesia is showing signs of stabilization, maybe even readying for a significant rise in economic fortunes. Singapore, for one, has massive investments in Indonesia, and given the savvy long-term strategic planning of the Singapore government and state-related companies, that is a good indicator for all.

That move towards stabilization comes amidst continuing concern over extremist political and religious influence, but also as Megawati seems to be as secure in her position as any president for the last five years. The grab for shares of political power is still ongoing, but things do seem to be i haitus of late, as Megawati practices her own methods of consensus management.

According to the The Jakarta Post, "...The Consultative Group on Indonesia (CGI) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have expressed satisfaction over the progress made in implementing Indonesia's macroeconomic policies.

The donor countries are satisfied with the progress in Indonesia's macroeconomic policies, expert member of staff at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mahendra Siregar said on Thursday, as quoted by Antara.

"They also hoped that Indonesia would be able to sustain the progress in selling assets controlled by the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA) to support the state budget," Mahendra quoted World Bank representative Mark Baird as saying..."
